One of the most agonizing social problems we had to face in Mongolia is alcohol addiction. We can say that in almost every family there is at least one person who suffers because of this problem. The consequences on family life and on society in general are devastating: violence, desertion of work, separation, illnesses, depression. Over the years we have tried to accompany many people on a road of progressive recovery and have found a valid help in the experience of Alcoholics Anonymous. So came the initiative to shelter at the mission a group of people following this methodology. We have organized for them a ger where the members meet twice a week, share their journey and offer one another help. Local authorities very much appreciate this project, and encourage it, since in our area there had never been a reference point for this type of problems.
